Tower of Power fans know. Larry Braggs is the real deal.
On his new solo CD, "Places", Larry lays down the trademark soul and funk that he's known for and also gives his fans a chance to hear him in some new musical situations.
Co-produced by Larry along with Jeff Tamelier, "Places" features Roger Smith, David Garibaldi, Mic Gillette, Skip Mesquite, Tony Lindsay (former Santana lead vocalist), Bobby Vega, Eddie M. on saxophone, a duet with Strokeland's own, Fred Ross and more.
If you've ever heard Larry sing Tower of Power's "Willing to Learn" live in concert, you will remember the experience. Larry's range and vocal control are nothing less than stunning on that beautiful song. "Places" includes a different take on the song, with an acoustic piano rendition that allows Larry room to stretch out and the dynamic range to sing the song in an intimate way that you've never experienced. This song alone is worth the price of admission.
Other standout tunes include "Ride" and "For Cryin' Out Loud", co-penned by Larry, and a remake of the old Larry Graham tune, "Hair". This cd is full of fun, great grooves, and incredible vocal work.
This is real music being played by real musicians. "Places" was recorded in just one week by assembling an incredible group of professional musicians and singers, and capturing their inspired performances.
There were four recording sites used in recording this project, making "Places" the appropriate name. If you enjoy music that travels with you and keeps you wanting more, then this is a CD you must keep in your car, your iPod, or wherever your travels take you.
